i see. Similar to GoToSocial, users can reply or like, etc but it just gets dropped when it hits the original instance.

This is a public post from Bonfire but with specific permissions for likes. Followers, followed, and local users should be able to favorite.

Oooh. It seems to affect being able to mention people, at least for profiles on the same account @[email protected]

This profile is public and is set to the server's default - to federate. It should be visible to other instances and I should be able to refer to @[email protected]

Trying out a post quote request from Bonfire to Mastodon. This should actually fail because I've set it to only myself can quote.
