I had a really interesting and productive chat with @jesseplusplus and @julian at #FediCon about comment/reply backfilling and look forward to collaborating with them on this massive UX improvement.
For those unaware, @jesseplusplus is the creator of @frequency, an innovative photo sharing platform, similar to Pixelfed! @julian is the creator of NodeBB, a gorgeous forum software!
The Fediverse is largely predicated on free, unpaid labor, with a sprinkling of donations keeping things afloat. We should be able to have entire careers in this space, building this amazing thing: IT workers, developers, designers, artists, writers, musicians, you name it!
Someone asked Dan earlier about why Sup wasn’t built on XMPP or Matrix. As someone who lived through Diaspora integrating XMPP, that kind of integration is a bad time.

Boris's presentation about the exciting client development work in the ATProto world is a great example of how client apps are a driver of innovation. It made me want to do even more work on the ActivityPub API. #Fedicon
