🏕️ my adventures in #selfhosting: day 300 (new project edition) 💡

a blog post that discusses my next self-hosting project. a hint: it's not fediverse-related but is still very empowering.

@elena My primary media usage is music, so I ended up with Navidrome. My only advice would be to look for alternative music apps that are compatible with your Jellyfin service. A good music app is priceless! I am using Symfonium on Android, but I'm sure there are good iOS options.

@elena Jellyfin is the favorite tool I'm self-hosting. I've put a ton of work into ripping our physical media, but it's absolutely worth it. 🙂

@elena Jellyfin is awesome, I'm running it for couple of months in container with data on NAS (same as other services I self-host).

I don't think it matters that much how your setup will look like. I would consider how it fits the current hardware setup you use, how the service will be accessed and how will be the data protected.

For start and confirming it works for you, the easiest setup makes sense.

@elena This post is super timely. I'm just getting going with self hosting myself. I'm just using an old desktop that I think I got when my father in law passed. I threw Linux Mint on it and got Jellyfin going.

We hit thrift stores and yard sales and I rip DVDs during the work day since I'm remote.

My current self hosting project is FreshRSS. So far so good!
